The Plate has no accounts — no sign-up, no login, no email address. But if you have used the AI meal scan, our server holds an anonymous record of your device so it can count your scan allowance. You can delete that from inside the app, in one tap.
In the app: Settings → Delete my data. One tap and a confirmation. It erases everything on the phone and tells the server to forget the device, its scan allowance, its scan records and any reports you sent. Nothing needs to be emailed and nobody needs to approve it.
Other options:
| Data | Where it lives | How to delete it |
|---|---|---|
| Your goal and dietary preferences | Your device only | Settings → Delete my data, or uninstall |
| Saved patches and after-meal answers | Your device only | Tap × in the app, Delete my data, or uninstall |
| Meal photos you scan | Your device only | Settings → Delete my data, or uninstall |
| An anonymous device identifier and scan allowance | Our server | Settings → Delete my data |
| Scan records (time taken, whether food was found — no photo, no food names) | Our server | Settings → Delete my data |
| Generated preview images | Our storage, up to 24 hours | Deleted automatically |
| Purchase record and an anonymous device identifier | RevenueCat, our subscription processor | Email us — see below |
The photo you scan is sent to Google’s Gemini API to be described and is not stored by The Plate. The purchase record exists so a subscription can be restored on a new phone; it contains no meal data, no preferences, no health information, and no name or email address.
If you have subscribed and want the purchase record removed, email support@platepatch.app with the subject “Data deletion request”, and include the email address you used on Google Play or the App Store so the record can be found.
Requests are actioned within 30 days. Deleting the purchase record ends the ability to restore that subscription on a new device, so cancel the subscription in your app store first if you no longer want it.
Cancelling and deleting are separate. To cancel, use Google Play subscriptions or App Store subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; your current period runs to its end.
